হিফয করতে হলে by শাইখ আব্দুল কাইয়্যূম আস-সুহাইবানী My rating: 3 of 5 stars Some points in this book are worthwhile to ponder over and apply in our study life, whatever fields that study life may consist of. And memorization is not scorned at, instead, it is encouraged. The book claims, with numerous examples, that memorising actually sharpens our brain and is good for our health - body and mind and soul - in the long run. And that, I will have to find out for myself. All in all, this book was short, easy to comprehend and insightful enough. View all my reviews

গল্পে গল্পে ব্যাকরণ by যতীন সরকার My rating: 5 of 5 stars An exceptional book for everyone (especially students if they ever read it) that may perhaps make them fall a little bit more in love with the nuances of grammar and language and words of the Bengali/Bangla language. Almost each section of grammar, embedded in stories and dialogues among the characters in the book, flowed seamlessly. Comprehension of topics that I dreaded in school came easily to me. I only regret not getting to read it sooner. 5 stars through and through. And so, I shall now endeavour to read the author's "ব্যাকরণের ভয় অকারণ", the book "গল্পে গল্পে ব্যাকরণ" originated from. Note: Why aren't all textbooks or books on difficult topics written like this? View all my reviews

সুন্দরী ও কদাকার by Walt Disney Company My rating: 5 of 5 stars Once upon a time, there lived a little girl who had just begun to venture in the land of books. One day she stumbled upon a fairytale story unlike anything she had ever imagined, and it was the tale of "Beauty and the Beast".... She grew to love it beyond measure and what endeared her to the story has become some of the best parts of her as she has grown into adulthood. "Beauty and the Beast" is so precious, special and beautiful to me because it's the first story that taught me to be a decent human being, to look past the first impression and into the soul of another, and to let go of past hurts so as to open my mind and heart to new possibilities. It taught me to have faith and trust and forgiveness when they were lost or forgotten or destroyed, but were needed the most to embark upon a journey full of second chances. I learned through this story the joy of bein...

মানসিক চাপ ও রাগ কিভাবে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করবেন by ড. মো. আলমাসুর রহমান My rating: 5 of 5 stars It is different from the typical self-help books in that it embraces religious practices and beliefs, along with the usual ways of other motivational techniques. I liked some of the insights that were new to me, like how to not create anger in the first place, instead of blasting everything and everyone in a rage or instead of seething quietly and keeping the hurt and anger inside to a boiling point, both of which are bad for good health and good relations. What the book said about having positive attitudes no matter what, because it is not always helpful or feasible or possible to control others' actions, but it is possible, with will and practice, to control one's own behaviour and way of thinking in any situation, it's true and supported by many of the great minds of the world. I would recommend this book to anyone having trouble with finding a goo...

প্রত্যাবর্তন by আরিফ আজাদ My rating: 5 of 5 stars This book was like a small but bright spark of light, among all the darkness dwelling in all our hearts that began from all the ways we allowed the child in us to die, the child that sought the truth, courage, simple happiness, peace, and a good life in face of everything despairing and evil. All the stories portrayed here were personal journeys towards a better way to live for the storytellers, towards the same path of lost innocence our young selves once were on, by fitrah. And that's why reading this book was such a heart-warming experience. View all my reviews

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas My rating: 4 of 5 stars The first few chapters kept me on edge and took me for an unforgettable, thrilling, psychological drama-filled ride. I loved every moment I was reading those pages. The final help.... I kind of guessed that twist pretty early on. Near the end though, some parts felt anti-climactic, unresolved, and not explored enough, like I was expecting more of their story to fit in right in one book. There were some very special, cherish-worthy moments though. I am in awe with the author's writing because of those moments. Overall, this was a book that made me immersed in or ponderous over for all day yesterday and today. I couldn't pick up another book or couldn't wait for all my chores to be done with so that I could get back to reading it. So I'm glad. View all my reviews

The Rose & the Dagger by Renée Ahdieh My rating: 4 of 5 stars Dec 25, 2015: The book is not out yet????????? Someone build me a time machine!!! Coz I NEED TO READ THIS BOOK NOW! Aug 23, 2019: What is this? WHAT.IS.THIS? How and why does a book, and a much-anticipated sequel to a beautifully written story of horror and mystery and a great love that would attempt to defy curses I once dnf-ed due to loss of interest have the power to become unputdownable like this, just because I re-read the first book after a long long time and loved it anew and wanted to see the end? Aug 24, 2019: Finished it. So much drama. So many implausible Deux Machina stuff. But so much heart and sacrifice and love. Sad that the ending was so short. I would've liked to know a bit more. But what I got to read, I am glad I did. View all my reviews

It by Stephen King My rating: 3 of 5 stars Update on 26th July, 2019: Only 453 pages left of "It". After so many pages, so much frustration and still refusing to give up, letting the tale sneak and grow on me ever since the reunion chapter (P. 569), or maybe slightly before that, since the incident of the photo album in George's room (P. 406), I finally don't want to put the book down ; this I felt acutely, once during the epic rockfight (ever since P. 818), and now, at the onset of the dangerous ritual in the smoke-hole (P. 901 and 912). And though I once felt, 'I won't ever care whether they die or not, or how, as long as I get a satisfying ending and revelation of the mysteries,' I've begun to dread the ending chapters, where they all may not live. [Special thanks to the week-long readathon challenge this year. It's certainly helped me push my boundaries and energy and mind every day, every hour, every mome...

The Princess and St. George's Dragon by Brittany Fichter My rating: 5 of 5 stars A beautiful complete tale of fantasy, horror, adventure and acts of great courage, even though the stories are not over yet. I was on the edge of my seat with every passing moment of the short book, and it didn't disappoint. The ending was good on all parts, devoid of the much-loved clichés, and that surprised and delighted me as a reader, who has had the fortune to read many many stories about fairytales, retellings, dragons, magic, quests and thrilling adventures. Most of all, I liked the character of the princess and (view spoiler) [the soldier from Rome (hide spoiler) ] during the final act. I applaud the author, Brittany Fichter , for showing something different and memorable for the ages. You've won my heart with this short but grand tale yet again. View all my reviews
